The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (Midwest ISO) has moved the FDS Co-Generation Facility into the Facilities Study phase for interconnection to the regional electrical transmission grid. The Facilities Study phase is the final engineering and design phase required for the FDS Co-Generation Facility to complete prior to negotiation of a generator interconnection agreement (GIA) with the local electrical transmission company.
FDS met Midwest ISO’s “Milestone” requirement for moving into the Facilities Study phase based on a 25 Year power purchase agreement (PPA) for electricity generated by the FDS Co-Generation Facility. The electricity PPA will be used by FDS to support the issuance of tax-exempt construction bonds for the FDS Project.
The proposed FDS Project consists of a world class non-recovery coke plant and electrical co-generation power plant in Toledo, Ohio. The project is expected to entail the capital investment of up to an estimated $600 million in Ohio. This investment is expected to result in an estimated 1,500 temporary construction jobs, more than 100 direct manufacturing jobs, and up to an estimated 800 indirect jobs in the Northwest Ohio Region.
